Been wanted to try Ryuko since their first restaurant opened but never got a chance, finally decided to go to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Drink, I tried the yuzu lager, quite refreshing and I quite like it. My wife got the “Memories of Kaede”, she really likes it, it has a really strong whisky taste and a slight hokicha taste. Food, Surf & Turf roll(6pcs, we ate two before photo ). Looks good, tastes good but I could not taste the wagyu at all, it’s definitely there as you can see in the photo. I can taste the avocado, the shrimp and the sauce, but not the wagyu beef. Udon with ebi katsu, ebi katsu is standard, nothing to write home about, udon I find a little bit on the south side, the broth we really like Kaisen Don, we like it a lot, sashimi is fresh and we love it, especially hamachi and scallop. We ordered 2 nigiri on the side, seared hamachi and seared tuna toro nigiri. They are ok, not too many Japanese restaurants in Calgary offers seared sushi. Atmosphere/service, nicely decorated restaurant, servers are friendly. Will we go again? If we are craving for nigiri, yes. If we crave for other Japanese dishes, udon, katsu and such, I believe there are better options in Calgary. It's still a very good restaurant, I believe I have hyped myself too much because I have heard so many good things.

I have been to the south location and truly loved that one. So I was eager to try here. I tried the sushi lunch combo. It was pricey. I wouldn't say it will fill you up but it will keep you feeling comfortable. It was tasty. It did feel fresh. Maybe something else on the menu would have made me feel better about this location, but I preferred the south more. But still a beautiful place and still decent food.

Been here for dinner and brunch. Really well done conceptually. Can go from a soothing brunch to a lively dinner vibe. Smart to open in the burbs. Chef Jun Park has a well developed menu. Service is warm and friendly.

We absolutely love this restaurant! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and make every visit special. The food is unlike any other sushi you can get in Calgary. I have never had a bad bite of food here. The presentation of both the food and drinks is fabulous! Just left and am already looking forward to our next meal! Thank you!

What a great Japanese restaurant. I've been searching years for karaage this good. They pay close attention to preparation. They prepare dry aged sushi on-site - a great way to provide quality fish while recognizing the difficulty of getting fresh fish in a landlocked province. Their wasabi is good - store bought but it's still high quality and ground - not paste. Ambience is excellent too - quiet and calm like you enjoy in a Japanese restaurant. My girlfriend and I had a great time here.

5 ⭐ I went to The West location for the Omakase (chefs choice) menu. It was around 10 items and did not disappoint. Pricy? Yes however, you’re paying for the presentation + product knowledge base which is throughly explained to you by the Sushi chef which add loads to the Omakase experience + Fresh ingredients, great ambiance and ultra clean restaurant. I recently visited the new 10th Ave DT location for a celebratory dinner and ordered the "Course B" meal. We ordered a lot of food so instead of listing them on here I will include some photos.. We enjoyed Sake as well as a Japanese Whiskey highball. Andy was our host/ server and delivered exceptional service (compd our first drink because there appeared to be a lagging table). They were slammed as they typically are however they managed to be very accommodating and explaining menu items as well as the deliverance with precision not mixing up any orders. They ensured we had everything we needed and on the ball with keeping the drinks topped up. Andy made the experience more worth it on a very special evening for us When we dine out for sushi we never really look at the price anyway. We look for reviews as well as other variables like cleanliness, popularity of dishes and variety of dishes before we invest in our experience. 100% worth every dollar.

We visited Ryuko south few weeks ago to try their omakase dinner with Chef Jun on the 2nd floor and it was magical and fabulous. On our way out we notice the main area of the restaurant was very busy so we wanted to try and today we had the pleasure of visiting this location and the experience was top notch. Jay the manager along with all the staffs were very friendly, food was made with a lot of passion and love and the atmosphere is nice. We will definitely come back next week to try the daily Kaiseki box since we need to preorder that 1 day in advance. Give it a try if you are a foodie, I would rate this one of the top Japanese restaurant in Calgary but make sure to book a reservation as spot do fill up quick.
